Tembria Network Monitor is designed to help network administrators and IT staff to automate the monitoring of network services for unexpected conditions. Whenever an unexpected condition arises such as server or service becoming unavailable, Tembria Network Monitor will detect the event and notify you using one or more of its built-in notification mechanisms.
No matter what the manufacturer claims, 99.9 percent uptime is a pipe dream. Server crashes are a fact of life, so administrators must be prepared to deal with them. This application will constantly monitor all of the servers on a network, and automatically notify you whenever problems occur. Tembria Network Monitor supports most types of vital protocols and services, including TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, ICMP, MS SQL and more. It's also capable of monitoring disk space, checking file existence and checking directory sizes on local and remote systems.
Tembria Network Monitor can notify network administrators in a number of ways. The program may automatically notify you via e-mail, by writing to the Event Log, through popups and by running a specified program. Unlike the servers it monitors, the program is flexible and easy to configure. You add new systems by using the wizard-based user interface. You can specify all information, such as server type, IP address, username/passwords and other pertinent parameters. You can also use the Detection Wizard to automatically detect devices in the Network Neighborhood or to scan a range of IP addresses. Though Tembria Network Monitor is automated, you may run checks on-demand.
The graphical interface lets you build a diagram of your network and organize the workstations, servers and network devices being monitored into groups. You can drag-and-drop items between groups and select their display attributes such as type of icon to show next to an item. This shareware version is fully functional, but expires after 15 days. Windows 2000, XP & 2003 compatible.
