Colasoft MAC Scanner Free is designed to be a fast easy-to-use option for scanning IP and MAC addresses within a local network. There is no real configuration to speak of, so novice users can use it without apprehension - this fact is a double-edged sword as users with more experience may feel that it is too simple, but it still can be useful when you need a quick tally of addresses and are pressed for time.

During the scan, it will automatically detect all available subnets relating to IP addresses that are set up on multiple NICs. It will also scan IP or MAC addresses of user-defined subnets. It will display MAC address, IP address host name, and manufacturer within an easy-to-read interface, grouping all IP addresses according to their MAC address if that MAC address happens to be associated with multiple IP addresses. All results can easily be exported via .txt for use later on.

Colasoft MAC Scanner Free additionally allows for changes to the number of scanning threads in order to provide better scan performance.
