Enable or Disable Auto-Correct and Highlight Misspelled Words In Windows 10

By Timothy Tibbetts

on 06/15/2023

Auto-Correct is available in Windows 10 to help you spell words correctly but if you don't use auto-correct, or use a third-party program then disabling it is easy. Here's how.

Because Microsoft keeps moving the settings, we're going to go to Control Panel, Find a Setting, type in keyboard, and select Typing settings.

At the top, you will see Auto-Correct Misspelled Words and Highlight Misspelled Words. Simply toggle the blue switch to turn either setting on or off.

Now, you probably think that was stupid easy, right? It was, but because Microsoft keeps moving things, finding the auto-correct settings hasn't always been that easy. Just before this tutorial was written, Auto-Correct was hidden under Time & language, Keyboard, Options. Just remember when something gets moved to take advantage of the search in Control Panel. It works excellent and can be a huge time saver.
