How to Disable the Windows Key

Gamers and others might occasionally find the Windows Key to be a nuisance, but it can be disabled in more than one way to suit your needs. Here's how.
1: Download WinKill
WinKill is primarily aimed at gamers who hit the Windows key when playing. It is portable and sits in your system tray using almost no resources. You can spot WinKill by the Windows logo which has a simple red X over it when activated.
Click it to activate or deactivate, or you can do it the "hard way" by right clicking and select "Toggle." WinKill is small, free, and simple to use for any gamer being annoyed by their Windows key. It was tested by the author on Windows 7, Vista and XP. It worked for us on Windows 10. While there are other apps, few are portable and work on all operating systems.
In our opinion, this is the way to disable your Windows key because you can turn it on and off so quickly. But, there are other options. However, they aren't as easy to enable or disable.
2: Disable With the Registry Editor or GPedit
While there used to be a way to do this with the registry editor and Group Policy Editor, Microsoft removed these features years ago. This step is only here to let you know that it's no longer possible.
