WinGPG is an Open Source program that allows you to encrypt files.
WinPGP is available as an installer and as a portable archive. We opted for the installer, which allows you to define your Shell integration right after you finish installing. Now, when you want to encrypt something, you can simply right-click on any file.
When you right-click on a file, the interface will appear, allowing you to create, import, or use a default key. Optionally, WinGPG can be found in the tray as well. You are given tips as to what to do next at the bottom. A novice will most likely get confused as to what a key is and where to get it. The answer lies in creating a key. Click Create Key, and you can choose the algorithm and key length, finishing with your name, email, comment, passphrase, and a checkbox to decide if it expires or not. If you're unsure of the algorithm and key length, just leave it as the default. Speaking of default, if you spend the time here, you can now use this key as the default.
It should also be noted that hotkeys are supported.
WinGPG isn't the easiest to use for less experienced users, but we were able to figure it out. We think the key setup might be confusing for that crowd. For power users, this might be the file-encrypting app you've been looking for.
