Still thinking you are safe from malware? It might surprise you that in the first six months of 2015, 12 new strains of malware are created every minute.
Andy Hayter, security evangelist for G DATA, said: “About three-quarters of internet users are conducting their financial transactions online, and cyber-criminals have recognized this huge opportunity for malicious attacks."
The Swatbanker family of malware being the most frequently seen banking trojan during the six-month period. However, the healthcare industry were most often classified as malicious. Hackers launched more attacks on the industry than any other over the first half of 2015.
G DATA noted that exploits for vulnerabilities are now being merged into exploit kits within a matter of days, underscoring the importance of keeping apps, software and patches up to date.
Vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash were most commonly abused to quietly and automatically attack and compromise PCs.
