A 12 year old boy from Galveston, TX, has come up with an app that could save children from kidnappings, bullying and more - all this is achieved simply by pressing the on button - which when the phone is locked acts as a panic button.
According to the article from NewsMax, The Save Me app is currently available on Android smartphones via the Google Play store. When a user presses their phone's power button six times in a row, the app sends a pre-written text message to contacts chosen ahead of time. For a 99-cent upgrade to Save Me Pro, users' panic messages will also send location data that can be viewed on a map.
Dylan Puccetti tells KHOU, he thought of the idea for the app while riding to Austin Middle School with his dad. When the phone is locked and someone hits the power button six times, it sends a pre-written text message to several numbers programmed into the app.
"If I was getting abducted and I have my phone in my pocket, all I have to do is reach down and press the power button," explains Puccetti.
The app is available only for Android devices for now.
Smart kid!
