Mazda North American Operations is recalling over 41,000 2.5-liter equipped Mazda 6 sedans due to the web making habits of a itsy bitsy spider - oddly enough this is the second time that Mazda has experienced problems due to pesky arachnids.

According to Edmunds, the automaker added a spring to the canister vent line back in 2010, in order to prevent a spider's intrusion in the 2009-'10 Mazda 6. The original recall involved Yellow Sac spiders.
Mazda told federal safety regulators that a certain "kind of spider could possibly intrude even with the expanding spring." It did....
The NHTSA posted information about the new recall on its Web site on Friday.
"In the affected vehicles, spiders may weave a web in the evaporative canister vent hose, blocking it and causing the fuel tank to have an excessive amount of negative pressure," NHTSA said in its summary of the problem. "Negative pressure could cause the fuel tank to crack, resulting in a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire."
The recall is to begin this month.
