With the Christmas season rapidly approaching, there is one more breach that we have to worry about.
With the hack of VTech and Hello Barbie, the hackers have turned their attention to Hello Kitty, or more precisely sanriotown.com. Sanriotown is the official online community for fans of Sanrio’s roster of characters that include Hello Kitty, Bad Badtz-Maru, KeroKeroKeroppi and more.
Researcher Chris Vickery is the one that discovered the hack which exposed birthdays, first & last name, email address, gender and country of origin along with password questions and answers.
What is disturbing is that parents rarely check their childrens credit history so any thefts of credit may not be found until the child is of major age. It is not known what the hackers intend to do with the data.
A database for Hello Kitty contains approximately 3.3 million users. Parents are advised to change the passwords for their children as well as questions and answers.
