3DMark DirectX 11 Tech Demo

Posted on: 06/22/2012 12:13 PM [ Comments ]

A new 3DMark is coming in 2012. Find out more at http://www.3dmark.com or follow us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/futuremark

"In the trade town of Scarport, buildings cling to canyon walls above canals of lava and provide shelter from the toxic volcanic atmosphere. Gaudy neon signs flicker as steam rises from the molten rivers running beneath the town. A trader walks along ledges carved from the volcanic rock, smoke swirling around her flowing cloak. Her robotic sentinels keep watch, but what dangers lie hidden in the shadows?"

Our 3DMark DirectX 11 tech demo brings this scene to life with intelligent tessellation and advanced volumetric lighting using real-time light scattering. The visible particles and clouds of smoke in the scene react to other objects using fluid dynamics simulation. Post processing, ambient occlusion and various lens effects complete the look. The music and audio design is by Pedro Macedo Camacho, who also created the soundtrack for 3DMark 11.

Our next 3DMark will be the world's first unified graphics benchmark allowing testing of DirectX 9, DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 capable hardware through the DirectX 11 API. This trailer provides a preview of the DirectX 11 test. It is a work-in-progress and does not respresent the final quality of the benchmark. The new 3DMark is currently in development and is expected later in 2012 following the launch of Windows 8. It will also be compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

3DMark is an essential tool used by millions of gamers, hundreds of hardware review sites and many of the world's leading manufacturers to measure PC gaming performance. Use it to test your PC's limits and measure the impact of overclocking and tweaking your system. Search our massive results database and see how your PC compares or just admire the graphics and wonder why all PC games don't look this good.
