Amazon wants in on the game currently dominated by big players including Google, Facebook, Yahoo and others. This allows you to use a singular login just like you might where you comment on Majorgeeks via Disqus, for example. We think it’s a good idea because many of us use these types of systems already and Amazon usually has good user reviews and comments as opposed to the typical spam and rude comments often found from other services.
Here’s a video to explain more.
Now, onto the commercial aspect. Visit http://login.amazon.com/ to get the SDK for your business to integrate it.
For example:
Reduce registration friction
Customers prefer to register and login with credentials they already know. In a head-to-head test, Woot found that customers picked Login with Amazon two times more than any other identity provider.
Leverage security and scalability
Help secure customer information by leveraging the same user authentication system used by Amazon.com. Login with Amazon is based on OAuth 2.0, which has been broadly adopted for user-authorized exchanges across sites.
Reduce infrastructure and operational costs
By taking advantage of Login with Amazon, you can spend less time building a user management system and more time building your product. Login with Amazon also allows for faster development cycle by using the OAuth 2.0 protocol.
Do more with Amazon
Login with Amazon supports additional Amazon services that can allow you to reach more customers and be more efficient. You can add these services at any time to your site or app.
