An Amazon email scam has been sent to all Amazon customers claiming that ‘Your Amazon.com order cannot be shipped.’
The scam also says that there was a problem with the customers order and that they cannot access their account. Included in the scam is a link that takes the customer to a fake Amazon page. The fake page asks for the victim to enter their banking information.
Amazon has released this information about customers accounts. It will never ask for this information:
• your National Insurance number
• your bank account information, credit card number, Pin or credit card security code (including ‘updates’ to any of the above)
• your mother's maiden name or other information used to identify you (such as your place of birth or your favourite pet’s name)
• your Amazon.co.uk password.
Amazon is also requesting customers to check email for grammatical mistakes, bad spelling and punctuation.
If you were targeted by the scam, Amazon suggests that you report it to Amazon’s dedicated stop-spoofing@amazon.com email address.
