Amazon testing the Dash tool

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 04/05/2014 11:10 AM [ comments Comments ]

Amazon is testing a handheld barcode reader, the Dash tool that will scan your stuff and send a list to Amazon's Fresh grocery delivery service.

The device is also touted for its sturdiness, and ability to withstand the wrath of children along with dirty hands, so you can order new groceries while cooking without an issue.

At present it is a invitation only test which will combine voice-logging, barcode-scanning and wireless connectivity. The tool is designed to function as part of Amazon's Fresh local delivery service.

The service was expanded last year to include the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas.

The company did not release a time line for when the tool will go public.
