Anonymous claims to have taken down 5,500 twitter accounts linked to ISIS.
"We report that more than 5,500 Twitter account of #ISIS are now #down! #OpParis #Anonymous #ExpectUs,” the group wrote in a Nov. 17 tweet.
On Monday, Anonymous claimed to have taken down 3,824 accounts, thought the claims cannot be verified.
Anonymous has not stopped there. They have begun to release the names of individuals it believes to be extremist. The leak reportedly contains physical addresses and names of individuals believed to be involved in ISIS recruitment.
Alex Poucher, a spokesman for Anonymous, said: “Our capability to take down ISIS is a direct result of our collective's sophisticated hackers, data miners, and spies that we have all around the world. We have people very, very close to ISIS on the ground, which makes gathering intel about ISIS and related activities very easy for us.”
“They picked a fight with Anonymous when they attacked Paris, and now they should expect us,” he said, adding that the collective “will not sit by and watch these terror attacks unfold around the world.”
