Arson charge for woman attempting to kill spider

Posted by: Jon Ben-Mayor on 06/28/2014 12:10 PM [ comments Comments ]

It makes perfect sense - spiders must be killed with fire. As effective as this form of arachnid assassination by flame is; it's still arson and you may go to jail. They have spiders there too, but you aren't allowed to have a flame source....

Ginny Griffith, 34, set fire to a pile of towels inside her city of Hutchinson, KS., duplex after seeing a spider scurry into the pile.

Griffith told fire investigators that she use a cigarette lighter to ignite the towels. When the fire department arrived at the duplex smoke was visible coming from the structure. According to HutchNews, some clothing was smoldering just inside the doorway. They found multiple other points of origin for the fire and brought it under control within minutes.

Griffith was being held in the Reno County jail in lieu of $7,500 bond.
