Ashley Madison Hackers Targeting the Wives

Calling themselves The Impact Team, the group that hacked the Ashley Madison website apparently did not get enough satisfaction trying to blackmail the husbands. The hackers are now sending blackmail letters to the wives.
They do not have much info to go on as they have addressed the wives as Mrs. with only the last name. They are demanding $2,500 in Bitcoin or the blackmailer will tell the woman's friends, family and colleagues that her husband used the site.
The hackers must not have gotten much satisfaction from the emails they sent to the husbands, so they have taken to sending snail mail letters to the wives. The letters are all postmarked from Virginia.
Security blogger Graham Cluley said: “They don't know anything about the wives of the Ashley Madison members so this could be quite a lot of effort involved if the blackmailer actually did want to go through with their scheme."
He advised anyone who has received a letter to contact the proper authorities.
