Ashley Madison Victims Being Blackmailed

As was expected, the Ashley Madison users are being blackmailed by the hackers. They are receiving snail mail telling them to pay a ransom or have their account info exposed to friends and family.
According to security expert Graham Cluely, the hackers are demanding that the victims pay thousands of dollars to not have their personal info revealed.
One of users who received a letter told Cluely:
“I just received a physical postal letter to my house asking for $4167 USD or exposed my AM account to people close to me. is your advice the same as in your vid about email blackmail? Thank you.”
Cluely has previously counseled the victims to not pay the ransom as they are likely “trying their luck” and hoping a few people will pay up.
The victims no doubt were hoping the whole thing would just blow over. Unfortunately, they were wrong.
