According to Symantec, India has the most ransomware in all of Asia. It costs an estimated $4bn (£2.5bn) in 2012.
The numbers run: 11% for identity theft, 11% for ransomware, and 9% for phishing scams.
In the last 12 months, according to a survey done by Symantec, half the people responding said they had been the victim of some cyber crime. That's a global average of 41 per cent.
More so, mobile cyber crime is even worse. Nearly two-thirds said they had experienced mobile cyber crime in the past 12 months. That's a global average of 38%.
They also found that nearly half of the users had no idea that security software is available for their PC's, smartphones and tablets.
The government is just as worse. Nearly 10,000 email addresses belonging to senior government and military officials had been compromised.
