ASUS has announced the release of the Chromebox desktop powered by either an i3-4010U or Celeron 2955U Haswell processor.

It will also have options for 2GB or 4GB of RAM and will come with integrated Intel HD graphics. According to TalkAndroid, the standard 16GB SSD with 100GB Google Drive storage is onboard. It will come with both ethernet and 802.11 b/g/n dual-band WiFi, four USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth 4.0 and an SD card reader. There is both an HDMI and Display Port. The whole package measures 4.88 inches square and 1.65 inches high.

PCMag points out that like all Chrome OS devices, the Asus Chromebox will automatically update via the Internet, and is capable of running thousands of apps in the Chrome Web store, and supports multiple users via Google.com accounts.

The Asus Chromebox with Celeron will start at $179 and be available in March. Pricing for the Core i3-powered Chromebox will be available closer to March.
