Five suspected hackers are reported to have stolen $350,000 from Thailand's Government Savings Bank after infecting the machines with malware.
It's reported that the thieves have fled Thailand and are Eastern European hackers who infected 21 ATM's. The total stolen was approximately 12 million baht.
According to the Royal Thai Police Office, they are in possession of compelling evidence implicating five Eastern Europeans. Witness accounts and security cameras have footage that shows the thieves removing the cash after infecting ATMs with “specially made electronic cards produced in the Ukraine.”
The heist took place in six different provinces and seem to be related to a similar heist that took place in Taiwan the same month.
