AT&T customers eager to snap up cramming refunds

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 10/17/2014 01:37 PM [ comments Comments ]

As we reported earlier, AT&T is offering refunds for cramming charges.

And customers are flocking to the company asking for refunds. A spokesman for the FTC said the response from customers "was one of the largest the agency has ever seen." Some 359,000 people have sent in claims for the refunds.

The refunds are being funded by a $105 million settlement. Cramming is the practice of charging customers for items such as ringtones, wallpaper, and text messages with horoscopes, flirting tips, celebrity gossip, and more, that were never authorized by the customer.

If you think you were hit with bogus charges, head to ftc.gov/att to seek a refund.
