AT&T expands LTE to 7 new markets

Contributed by: Email on 04/10/2013 11:35 AM [ comments Comments ]

Update: AT&T has just announced 6 more locations leaving me out in the cold again although I was in Cocoa, Florida today and for the first time I can continue to report it is actually excellent. Finally! They also mentioned that Athens, Georgia is coming this summer.

Here are the 6 new lucky cities:

- Santa Rosa-Petaluma, California
- Rocky Mount , North Carolina
- Orangeburg, South Carolina
- Napa, California (Great, awesome wine and fast YouTube videos!)
- Hampton Roads, Virginia
- Kalamazoo, Michigan
- Jackson, Tennessee

AT&T has announced that LTE rollout continues including 14 new cities. Since it is already available in most large and even medium sized cities, this update starts to add in some pretty small cities like Binghamton, NY and Fort Pierce, Florida (Hey, what happened to Vero Beach?!?)
Anyway, the cities now enjoying LTE are:

- Houma, Louisiana
- Beaumont, Texas
- Temple, Texas
- Fresno, California
- Montgomery, Alabama
- Jefferson City, Missouri
- Mount Vernon, Washington
- Carbondale, Illinois
- Binghamton, NY
- Las Cruces, New Mexico
- Palm Coast, Florida
- Lakeland, Florida
- Fort Pierce, Florida,
- Fort Smith, Arkansas

AT&T 4G LTE provides:

- Faster speeds. LTE technology is capable of delivering speeds faster than many other mobile Internet technologies***. Customers can stream, download, upload and game faster than ever before. Cool new devices. AT&T offers several LTE-compatible devices, including new AT&T 4G LTE smartphones and tablets.
- Faster response time. LTE technology offers lower latency, or the processing time it takes to move data through a network, such as how long it takes to start downloading a webpage or file once youÂ’ve sent the request. Lower latency helps to improve services like mobile gaming, two-way video calling and telemedicine.
- More efficient use of spectrum. Wireless spectrum is a finite resource, and LTE uses spectrum more efficiently than other technologies, creating more space to carry data traffic and services and to deliver a better network experience.
