How did the authorities arrest Lauri Love, who is accused of criminally accessing private sector, military and government computer systems in the United States?
The National Crime Agency sent an operative to the door of Love's house dressed in dungarees and posing as a UPS courier. He had a package and told Love's mother that Love had to personally sign for the delivery. Unsuspecting, Love came to the door dressed in pajamas and was immediately arrested.
The authorities didn't want him to have a chance of encrypting his computer before it could be seized. The NCA was informed that Love could encrypt his computer with the touch of a button.
The agency has been unsuccessful in forcing Love to give up his password to his encrypted devices. He is still being processed for extradition to the U.S.
