AV software evaluated for XP users

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 05/15/2014 02:39 PM [ comments Comments ]

Here are the results of a recently commissioned test by security company AV-Test that specifically evaluated protection against Windows XP exploits.

The testers used the Metasploit penetration testing tool to generate 54 exploits using different methods to attack seven known vulnerabilities.

A product had to both detect the attack and prevent execution of the payload in order to earn credit for protecting against the exploit.

XP users really need to install something that will protect their system against exploits.

As a side note, Qihoo's English-language version was released last year.
