A tweet by AT&T's social media department has angered quite a few people on Twitter and beyond; the company used the anniversary of 9-11 to promote the Blackberry Z10 smartphone - many people felt was in very poor taste.
Twitter almost immediately erupted in a flurry of disgusted and outraged tweets at the perceived disrespect that a company would use the anniversary of something so horrible to sell products.
AT&T deleted the Tweet after about an hour, and issued this statement in response to the backlash: "We apologize to anyone who felt our post was in poor taste. The image was solely meant to pay respect to those affected by the 9/11 tragedy."
I love this country, and I wept along with everyone else at the tragedy that unfolded in front of my eyes 12 years ago. But is it so weird that a cell phone company would use a cell phone to show respect in their own way? What do you think?
