Bebe Stores, the woman's retail clothing store, had its POS system hacked between Nov. 8 and 26.
The company reports that cardholder names, account numbers, expiration dates, and verification codes could have been stolen by hackers.
Bebe said it noticed suspicious activity on computers that operate the payment processing system. It affected nearly 200 stores that operate in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
In a message to customers, it said: “If you used a payment card at a U.S., Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands store during this time frame, you should review your account statements for any unauthorized activity.”
These attacks, that have affected stores such as Target, Home Depot and Neiman Marcus, are prompting the credit card industry to move to a more secure chip-based payment card technology in 2015.
