Best Buy Offering $100 Promotion on Touchscreen PCs

Best Buy says it will start on Sunday a two-week promotion offering $100 discount on purchases of touchscreen laptops and desktop computers running Windows 8, the latest operating system from Microsoft intended to spark a new wave of touch-friendly computers.

Considering that most iPad and Android tablets are in the $500+ range, this puts the Surface in the same ballpark. Frankly, what confuses me is why the Android tablets aren’t a steal? That’s how you beat the iPad into the ground. Since Android is open source and one could easily argue that Apple has always charged a premium for their OS it makes no sense that they are priced the same.
