Attacks on Bitcoin wallets are seeing a huge surge now that the value of a Bitcoin has risen to $900.
The cyber-criminals are setting up fake sites to emulate Bitcoin exchanges where they hope to lure victims into giving up their login credentials.
And ransomware authors are dropping the price of the ransoms as well. It used to be set at 2 bitcoin to unlock a victims files, but they have now dropped the price to 1 bitcoin.
The fake bitcoin sites employ a keylogger to phish the login credentials. Once a victim falls prey to the scam, the criminals are free to plunder the victims bitcoin wallet.
Because it is one of the worlds largest bitcoin exchange, criminals are targeting Blockchain.info. The criminals have been using URL's that are similar, such as blockchainls.info, blockchanfo.info, blockchianfo.info, etc.
The cyber-criminals are also phishing such sites as Google, Apple, Amazon, Dropbox and others to obtain login credentials.
Always check the URL for the domain you want to surf to.
