BlackBerry Will Stop Making Its Own Phones, Focus on Software

It's the end of an era for BlackBerry. The company, famous for making cellphones with physical keyboards that were once so popular people nicknamed them Crackberries, has decided to stop making its own devices.

BlackBerry says that it will rely on an Indonesian telecom company to continue manufacturing the phones, which will still have BlackBerry's look and feel and allows BlackBerry to focus on their software business.

BlackBerry has focused more on software over the years as sales of its phones have slid.

Shares of BlackBerry rose 4% in early trading after the announcement but is still well below its peak from several years ago.

BlackBerry plans to break even this year, at best.
