Today would have been Bruce Lee's, the iconic practitioner of Wing Chun, 82nd birthday.
Bruce Lee was credited with 32 career movies, but as much as he is remembered for bringing Kung Fu to the world, he also is remembered for his mysterious death.
It looks like scientists may have finally figured out the actual cause of death 40 years later... Too much water...and weed.

Well, technically, researchers who published an article at the Library of Medicine think the cause of death was Hyponatremia which is when sodium levels in the blood become abnormally low. This causes nausea, fatigue, headache, and confusion and can lead to death if not treated quickly. This condition was worsened by the amount of prescription medication Lee was taking at the time and marijuana use, increasing his thirst but his body's inability to keep up with the excess water.
"In conclusion, we hypothesize that Bruce Lee died from a specific form of kidney dysfunction: the inability to excrete enough water to maintain water homeostasis, which is mainly a tubular function. This may lead to hyponatremia, cerebral edema, and death within hours if excess water intake is not matched by water excretion in urine, which is in line with the timeline of Lee’s demise. Given that hyponatremia is frequent, as is found in up to 40% of hospitalized persons, and may cause death due to excessive water ingestion even in young, healthy persons, there is a need for wider dissemination of the concept that excessive water intake can kill. The fact that we are 60% water does not protect us from the potentially lethal consequences of drinking water at a faster rate than our kidneys can excrete excess water. Ironically, Lee made famous the quote ‘Be water, my friend,’ but excess water appears to have ultimately killed him."
Rather ironic that a man that was so physically superior that he could catch grains of rice with chopsticks and kick faster than a camera could record would be brought down by slow kidneys, but that appears to be the case.
Someone call Snoop Digg and tell him to stick to Gin and Juice. We can't lose another icon to this silent killer.
