A man attempting to burglarize a pharmacy in Manatee, FL, didn't quite make it to his destination. The would-be burglar was making his way via the the roof top to the pharmacy when it suddenly gave way sending him plummeting into the Thai Spice restaurant.
The Bradenton Herald reports that Bryon Newville, 29, had intended to break into a pharmacy in a 14th Street West strip mall, but instead he fell into the Thai Spice restaurant, according to a news release.
Newville, who was injured in the fall, was found hiding in a freezer when deputies arrived, but he refused to come out. That's when deputies unleashed the police dog, who bit Newville on the right thigh. He then complied and was arrested, according to the sheriff's office.
The fire department had a key to the restaurant. Deputies said they noticed "heavy damage" to the restaurant and a blood pattern that indicated Newville was injured in the fall through the ceiling. It also appeared he had moved through the restaurant and tried to open the cash register, according to the sheriff's office.
"It appears his intended target was the pharmacy, but he chose the wrong air handler to fall through," the news release states.
He is being held on bonds totaling $20,500, facing charges of burglary causing more than $1,000 in damage and resisting arrest.
