Canadian Woman Arrested For Hacking CEO's Email Account

Tamika White, a 30-year-old woman from Calgary, Alberta has been arrested for hacking into the email account of a local company's CEO.
Once in, she proceeded to divert funds in the amount of 52,000 Canadian dollars ($38,600) to her own bank account. She directed the payment for an expensive piece of equipment into her own bank account. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) tracked down this bank account to White.
Authorities have pressed 12 charges against White including identity fraud to money laundering, and from theft to trafficking stolen data.
This type of crime is referred to as Business Email Compromise. The FBI has said that this type of crime has been responsible for the loss of over five billion dollars from companies between October 2013 and December 2016.
