Candy Crush Saga won’t connect to Facebook or the internet

Odds are if you play Candy Crush Saga long enough you might run into a problem with it not connecting to the internet, including Facebook, which most of us need to play the game.
After some digging I tried everything and thought I would run down the steps I tried as well as the pros and cons. Here are the three most common suggestions and what ended up actually working for me. You might want to scroll down and try what I did first.
1: Remove the game and reinstall it. This is often tech support 101. Also see the step 2.
2: If you have a laptop or desktop and have removed the game from your mobile device, go to Candy Crush in your browser and click on the send to phone. Some people, myself included, experienced Candy Crush not completely loading on the desktop at this point. Simply hit F5 (refresh) and it should load. If not, clear your cache in your browser. I would suggest you do this before you click send to phone just in case.
3: Remove Facebook and reinstall it. This might work but if it fails, your Candy Crush loses your data until the problem is solved and you reconnect rendering the game unplayable.
So, what worked for me?
After about a week of trying the above steps and trying to contact support only to be ignored I ultimately clicked on a notification (in my Facebook app on my mobile device) that someone had either sent me lives or requested lives and when I clicked on that, it suddenly connected just fine. So, be sure to try that a few times before you try the above 3 steps, especially step #3. As a reminder removing Removing Candy Crush to re-install it would be worth a try and again, re-installing Facebook will reset you back to level 1 until the problem is fixed so avoid that.
Let me know if this worked or if you have other suggestions and I will update this to help others as King is not responding to people and ignored my sent in report.
