Dubbed irista, Canon is joining the likes of Flickr and Picasa with the launch of its own cloud-based storage service.
Canon said in a statement: "People today take thousands of digital photographs which have become scattered across multiple devices. Iirista is built to help curate entire image libraries in one central location."
You can view a timeline of your images, and sort them by year, month, day, specific event, or location. You can also add tags to your images of people, as well as letting you share photos or albums to Facebook and/or Flickr, and keep track of any comments your photos have received on these platforms.
Alessandro Stanzani, head of the Canon Europe consumer imaging group, said in a statement: "People are taking more photos on more devices than ever before, but it can be difficult to enjoy your images when they're stored in different places. With irista, we've created a platform that solves that problem."
Pricing will vary, but the first 10GB are free and includes all the functionality of the irista platform.
