Affinity Gaming is suing Trustwave for an allegedly "woefully inadequate" investigation following a network breach of the casino operator’s system.
Affinity operates 5 casinos in Nevada and 6 elsewhere in the U.S. and purports that Trustwave failed to shut down a breach that resulted in the loss of credit card data. The suit alleges that Trustwave allowed credit card thieves to maintain a foothold during the investigation.
The breach resulted in the loss of 300,000 credit cards of customers at their restaurants and hotels.
Trustwave submitted a report that they had identified the source of the breach as well as containing the malware responsible for the incident.
A year later, Affinity suffered a second breach and hired cybersecurity firm Mandiant who found that the malware had never been fully removed.
Trustwave denies any wrongdoing.
