"Celebgate" Hacker Pleads Guilty

Ryan Collins, of Lancaster, Pa., the "Celebgate" hacker that used a phishing scheme to break into the Apple and Gmail accounts of more than 100 people, pleaded guilty in front of a U.S. District Court Judge in Harrisburg, Pa.
The indictment states that Collins illegally hacked into the iCloud accounts of 50 people as well as the accounts of 72 Gmail users between November 2012 and early September 2014. His aim was to steal celebrities nude photos and videos.
He was originally charged in Los Angeles but the case was transferred to Harrisburg, Pa. which is nearer to his home.
If convicted, Collins faces up to a 5 year prison term and a fine of $250,000.
