A woman in California was pulled over by California Highway Patrol officers for suspicion of driving drunk - after failing multiple field sobriety tests it was determined that her BAC was 0.29 - she was then arrested and taken to the county jail in Martinez.
All of the above is pretty standard police work - the case goes south when CHP officer Sean Harrington took the intoxicated woman's cell phone and asked her for the password, (never give anyone your password, not even the police). The drunken woman provided her password to the officer and then according to KTVU, the woman was issued a notice to appear in court and released.
Court records show, the woman later noticed that six photos of her had been secretly forwarded from her cellphone to an unknown number in the 707 area code while she was in police custody. The number was found to be that of officer Harrington.
“She has no idea where the photographs are, who has seen them, who has re-transmitted them, or when they will reappear for the rest of her life,” the woman's attorney said. “The anxiety associated with it is unbearable.”
A CHP spokeswoman said they are cooperating with the criminal investigation while conducting their own administrative investigation. The officer has been placed on administrative duties and his peace officer powers have been taken away.
