Computer security firm Symantec, following the lead of HP and eBay, may be poised to split into two companies.
Symantec is in advanced talks to split the company into one that still sells its security programs while the other would pursue data storage.
This rumor, supported by unnamed people with knowledge of the matter, comes after the company cleaned house and trimmed its cluttered Norton security line from nine products to one. Dubbed Norton Security, the new flagship solution includes all the functionality of Symantec's existing products, so you won't need to choose between nearly a dozen different options.
