The chance of getting your thumb drive infected when using a charging station was demonstrated at a recent Black Hat conference. The faked charger injects malware onto the thumb drive.
USB charging stations are becoming more prevalent and various commentators have wondered out loud what would happen if such installations were subverted.
What the USB Condom does is disable the data pins on the device only leaving the pins that charge the device.
Announced late last week, the USB condom was promised to go on sale on September 16th, but a price is yet to materialize on the website of the company concerned.
