According to a survey of 800 users, Centrify Consumer Trust Survey found that two-thirds of those polled would not do business with a business that had been hacked.
In specific instances, financial institutions, medical entities and government agencies received favorable grades for how they deal with hacks. Retail businesses and travel sites did not fare as well and membership and hospitality businesses polled worst.
Most people realize that hacking is inevitable. However, two-thirds of respondents said they would probably not continue doing business with a site that was hacked.
Most of the survey respondents said that they were for the most part satisfied with how a company handled a hack, but only 47 percent of respondents were very satisfied.
