Delta Airlines scam email making the rounds

Posted by: Jon Ben-Mayor on 10/02/2014 07:47 AM [ comments Comments ]

The email comes under the guise of a confirmation on a ticket for a 10/1 trip to Dallas. Problem is there is no one (including myself) traveling to Dallas or anywhere else for that matter.

A big thank you goes out to my friend D.Tyler for the heads up.

The body of the email is as follows:

Dear Customer,

ELECTRONIC TICKET / ET-28019686
SEAT / 47A/ZONE 3
DATE / TIME 1 OCTOBER, 2014, 08:55 AM
ARRIVING / Dallas
FORM OF PAYMENT / CC
TOTAL PRICE / 211.94 USD
REF / EF.4685 ST / OK
BAG / 5PC
Your electronic ticket is attached to the letter as a scan document.
To use your ticket you should print it.
Thank you for your attention.
Delta Air Lines.

There is a .zip file attached as well as an .exe - goes without saying, but we will say it anyway, DO NOT OPEN these attachments. Doing so will ensure that the only trip you take is the one to find someone to remove whatever virus/malware you just opened.
