When you are selected (or volunteer) to be the designated driver it comes with a lot of responsibility, part of which really should include not being twice the legal limit.
According to the report from KATU, a designated driver driving drunk at 2:30 in the morning crashed into two police cars parked along a major arterial with their emergency lights on early Sunday morning, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.
One of the officers saw the car coming and pulled the other out of the way before a 2003 Ford Focus plowed into the rear of one of the police cars.
The city officers told the county deputy who investigated the crash that they got out of the way with seconds to spare.
The impact pushed the first police car into the rear of the car ahead of it, the sheriff's office said.
None of the 5 people involved reported any injuries.
Deputies arrested the driver of the Ford - Mercede Linn Ogan, 26, of Salem - and charged her with four counts of Reckless Endangering Another Person and one count of DUII.
At the Marion County Jail, tests found Ogan had a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal limit, the sheriff's office said.
