Detectives from the Polk County Sheriff's Office arrived with a search warrant at the home of David Scott Shultz, 32, who was suspected of running a grow op out of his Poinciana, FL., home. Shultz wasn't ready to allow them - he needed a smoke for the road.
According to BayNews9, detectives said they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the house. Shultz then told detectives he wanted to smoke a joint before opening the door, officials said.
They didn't force entry into the home - Shultz eventually opened the door and surrendered without incident.
Detectives said they found three rooms in the house that were being used to grow marijuana. One room contained a nursery with baby plants, a second room had slightly more mature plants and a third bedroom had mature plants with buds.
Shults was charged with maintaining a dwelling for drug manufacturing and multiple other drug related offenses.
