Farid Essebar, also known as Diabl0, has been arrested in Bangkok. He and his associates are charged with suspicion of causing $4bn worth of damage to Swiss banking systems.
According to the Bangkok Post, Essebar, who holds a Russian passport but is a 27 year old Moroccan, was nabbed by police from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI).
Police colonel Songsak Raksaksakul told the local paper: "We arrested the suspect at a condominium on Rama IV Road. Next, Thailand will send him to Switzerland within 90 days in accordance with the extradition agreement."
Thai police were alerted by Swiss authorities that Essebar and three associates had come to the south-east Asian country.
If convicted by the Swiss, it won't be the first time Essebar has done jail time. Back in 2005, Essebar was jailed by a Moroccan court for spreading the infamous Zotob worm. That worm infected CNN, ABC, the Financial Times and the New York Times among others around the world. It also, to the embarrassment of HomeLand Security, crashed the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) US-VISIT border screening system.
