A Russian computer hacker, Pyotr Levashov, was arrested in Spain under suspicion of being involved in last years hacking of the DNC which affected the presidential election process.
Levashov was the second Russian hacker arrested under suspicion of election tampering. Stanislav Lisov, 32, was also arrested by Spanish authorities. He is suspected of creating the NeverQuest Banking Trojan and possibly influencing the presidential election in Donald Trump's favor.
Levashov's wife Maria had an interview with Russian press agency RT and stated that her husband was held "at the request of the American authorities in connection with cyber crime." She also spoke to Spanish authorities and mentioned "something about a virus that was supposedly created by [her] husband" and was related to Trump's victory in last year's presidential race.
Levashov was rated 7th out of the world's Top 10 Worst Spammers according to anti-spam group Spamhaus.
Although Russian officials have repeatedly denied the accusations, the U.S. government has accused the Russian government of hacking the Democratic party in order to influence the presidential elections.
Congress and the FBI are still pursuing any links between Russia and Trump.
