In recent weeks, a new scam is making the rounds that preys on people falling for the criminals intent to solicit information.
Callers are saying that they are from the Do Not Call Registry and asking to verify information or ask if you want to sign up. People should be aware that the registry would never call. They would not be asking for names, addresses and even Social Security numbers.
If you have already signed up, it permanently restricts calls from telemarketers. You never need to renew your registration. ( You can call (888) 382-1222 to sign up).
