Nothing in Dubai is run of the mill - the fireworks show the United Arab Emirates city put on was no exception to that rule; the six minute display was confirmed a new world record by Guinness Book adjudicators who where on site. Happy New Year!
The staggering display of fireworks is a confirmed Guinness World Record of over 400,000 shots fired in the sky from 400 locations.
According to the Business Recorder, the main displays took place at Burj Khalifa and the luxurious Atlantis hotel located in Palm Jumeirah, one of three palm-shaped islands.
US firm Fireworks by Grucci designed the display, Guinness said, using 100 computers and 200 technicians to synchronize the pyrotechnics at a reported cost of around $6 million (4.3 million euros).
