SpaceX has been known to launch unusual objects into space in their rockets so it only makes sense that the Falcon Heavy get's something special - Elon Musks personal red Roadster.
We've heard about oddities depending on the mission including a wheel of cheese, for example. In this case, he's shipping his red Roadster to the red planet. Makes sense.
This post on Instagram reads:
"Test flights of new rockets usually contain mass simulators in the form of concrete or steel blocks. That seemed extremely boring.
Of course, anything boring is terrible, especially companies, so we decided to send something unusual, something that made us feel.
The payload will be an original Tesla Roadster, playing Space Oddity, on a billion year elliptic Mars orbit."
You've got to give them props for marketing and originality. After all, how could you forget these images?
The exciting part for us is that the launch is due next month and there's the roadster already loaded. This leads us to believe SpaceX are ahead of schedule and ready to rock(et).
