The credit company Experian suffered a major breach which will affect 15 million T-Mobile customers.
The massive breach includes names, birth date, addresses and social security numbers. The breach affected all those who signed up for a T-Mobile account between Sept. 1, 2013, and Sept. 16, 2015. The server which held the data has since been secured.
"Obviously I am incredibly angry about this data breach and we will institute a thorough review of our relationship with Experian," T-Mobile Chief Executive John Legere said in a note to customers posted on the company's website. "But right now my top concern and first focus is assisting any and all consumers affected."
T-Mobile and Experian are offering free credit monitoring services to those affected, but Chris Ensey, COO of Dunbar Cybersecurity and others expressed doubt that such action will benefit the victims.
