Facebook "color changer" is malware

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 08/08/2014 02:32 PM [ comments Comments ]

“Facebook Color Changer” is a new scam aimed at users who might want to change their color scheme. It instead is malware.

Don't fall for it.

Instead of directing the user to “apps.facebook.com/themsandcolors”, it actually sends the user to a phishing site. There it asks the user to watch a video. Launching the video supposedly provides temporary access to the user’s Access Tokens, letting the malicious site connect to the user’s Facebook friends. If the user does not watch the video, then it attempts to download a pornographic video player on PCs or a bogus malware scanner on Android devices.

It’s best to treat these “feature enhancements” with extreme caution.
